Could the Anti Smoking Law in the UK Force Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web?

Much has been talked in the papers not long ago regarding the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the smoking ban in the UK. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded big aid to help keep the businesses from going bankrupt. However does the online variation of this classic game offer a salvation, or will it not compare to its land based peer?

Bingo is an age old game usually enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. However the game recently had undergone a recent resurgence in popularity with younger members of society deciding to go to the bingo halls rather than the clubs on a weekend. All this is about to change with the enacting of the anti cigarette law across England and Wales.

No longer will enthusiasts be permitted to smoke at the same time marking off their numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 all public areas will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favorite places where folks like to smoke.

The results of the anti cigarette law can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already forbidden in the bingo parlors. Profits have dropped and the industry is absolutely fighting for its life. But where have the players gone? Certainly they haven’t given up on this enduring game?

The answer is on the net. Gamblers realize that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a drink and smoke and in the end, enjoy huge jackpots. This is a recent development and has timed itself almost perfectly with the anti smoking law.

Of course betting on on the internet could never replace the communal aspect of heading over to the bingo hall, but for a group of men and women the law has left a good many bingo players with no option.
